Optimum Extra RGP; first impressions and a question
|

In case anyone was interested in the Optimum line of RGP materials, and
the Extra material in particular, I'm wearing them now. I've been
using them now for about three days, daily wear.
The first thing you notice about these lenses is the comfort. These
are the most comfortable RGPs I've ever worn. They even rival soft
lenses on insertion. The wetting angle is 3 degrees, which is pretty
low. One downside to this is that they are _extremely_ slippery and
difficult to handle (make sure you close the sink drain first!).
Through the day, they stay fairly comfortable, even while doing a lot
of computer work. Other lenses that I've worn in the past (Boston ES,
Menicon Z, Fluoroperm 60) became a little more uncomfortable during the
day. I still use eyedrops pretty regularly (every 2-3 hours or so) so
things don't get out of hand.
Now my question: with a Dk of 100, are these lenses appropriate for
6-day extended wear? If everything goes well for them, I'm considering
wearing them Monday-Saturday and then making Sunday a day of rest .
