How do all of you Medical Examiner and autopsy assistants do it?!

I recently threw away a great opportunity at Houston's Baylor College
of Medicine. I was hired on in the ophthalmology department as an eye
bank recovery technician. During the interview, I was taken down to
the medical examiners office(because that is where most of my work
would be done) to see if I could handle all of the sights and smells.
Funny thing is that I was just fine that time. Two weeks later, I find
myself back at the ME for training and all of a sudden it hits me. The
smell, the sight, everything. It was all I could do to keep from
vomiting. Anyways, for the next 2 days, I thought and thought and came
to the conclusion that "I just can't do this". The whole experience
had such a strange effect on my head. I cried for days. The weirdest
thing about all of this is that I DO find all of it very interesting.
There was something in my head that would not allow me to work there. |
