Hi folks,

I sit on the advisory board for CE at the local university, and we are
trying to plan next years CE courses.

Thought I would ask,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, what speakers have the regulars
here heard in the past few years whom they would whole heartedly recommend?

And,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, what topics do they think need to be covered more
and which ones are covered in CE courses too much already?

Ken Reed or Malamed on local anesthesia.

Buchanan or Jerry Avillion on endo.

John Flucke on technology.

They are all more than 100 miles from Detroit, so they should work fine.

Thanks that helps a lot.

I am trying to get the advisory board to present for the next meeting with
lap-tops on the net so we can bounce all these names and topics back and
forth with all the data in front of us.

Which University, Dr. Steve? I have faculty pals at both Michigan schools.

Anyway, one of the best presentations I've ever heard was by Harald
Heymann. He's a prof at UNC chapel Hill. Good speaker, great nuts and
bolts restorative stuff.

Dr. Charles Wakefield from Baylor College of Dentistry. I heard him at
last week's California Dental Association scientific session in
Anaheim.

Subject: Bonding mechanisms, the different "generations" of bonding
agents (including separate primer-bonding agent-adhesive materials,
combined products, and self-etch bonding agents), and composite resins.

With all the new bonding systems hitting the market every year, this
sort of information helps keep it all sorted out.

Esthetic materials: Jeff Brucia, USanFrancisco, I think. You can't go
wrong. He does his own research and that's what he teaches. Hands down,
the best and most honest lecturer I have seen to date.

Ditto: Karl Leinfelter if possible. You can get him on DT(!)

Dr Iben in anesthesia (U of Toronto)

Marc Morin (CEREC)

Pierre Machtou, Paris; but often over this side; Endo

The Real World Endo Guys (www.realworldendo.com)

Weinberg (DenMat) for Veneers BION, according to Ian Shumann, the DenMat
boys have the most experience of anybody re: veneers.

Dr. Ebwaab (NYC) Oral Surgery for generalists

Scott Perkins (DT) for efficient and fast dentistry (This is the guy who
advertises 15 minute endos in DT magazine).

Ray Bertolotti Dental Materials (OK, he's biased towards Parkell, but he
is a chem Eng dental researcher and as such, has allot of science in his
lectures).

W_B: Endo, Surgery, efficient procedures; self defence in the practice.
(This is not a joke).

André Chartrand (MTL dentist); Lasers in Dentistry. He is the one who
determined the parameters that are still uesd in the Biolase Waterlase
and other lasers.

A CPA for some views on the business side of things, which reminds me:

StovePipe: How NOT to but and practice dentistry.

I have just received my course list from the ODQ. I have to look it over
and add to it after this summer's congress in MTL. I'll look it over on
Tuesday (it is in the Clinique) and if there are others, I'll send them
along to your email.

Cheers
SP
