Molluscum Contagiosum Confusion
|
|
|
My otherwise, completely healthy husband was diagnosed with this virus
last week by a Doctor at a walk-in Urgent Clinic. He told us the way
we should treat the bumps was to pop them. Well before being diagnosed,
thats what my husband did with the 2 bumps he originally thought were
pimples. But now there about 5 - 7 bumps and a few more white spots
looking ready to surface.
Everything I am reading on this virus tells me not to let him scratch
the bumps because it will spread to other part of the body or worsen
where they are.
If we continue to pop the bumps and wash the area frequently, will they
go away?? If so, how long? If not, will other treatments make healing
faster????
Thank you! |

The cheesy material that comes out of the lesions when you "pop" them
is loaded with the virus. Manipulating them also increases the chance
of scarring.
Unfortunately, the best way to "treat" these is to leave them alone!
They are generally harmless and tend to disappear on their own after
several years.
