Perio Chart
|

I go to my dentist every 6 months. About once a year, he sticks a
probe in my gums and says "3, 2, 3, 4, 2..." to his assistant. What
is he checking for and what do the numbers mean? |

I think he's looking at the amount of gum recession. The higher the number,
the more recession (I think).

yep,
he or she is measuring pocket depths, which is an indication of your
periodontal health. THe lower the number, the better it is.
