Thanks, I hope there a few more rational people but without a moderator |
to weed out the lunatics, I don't think this will be a place that I will
spend much time at.

My goodness, you certainly are somewhat thin-skinned, aren't you?
And I can't help but notice that YOU seem to start snarling and using
abusive language and insults as soon as someone disagrees with you.
Well, you know what they say, "hansome is, as handsome does"...but I
would like to caution you on a certain matter...
....you see, it is not exactly considered "PC" to refer to people as
"cretins".
The term originates from a condition of hypothyroidism...that a lot of
Lyme patients suffer from (including myself)...and it is not
particularly attractive to use that as a form of insult.
I didn't need to look that up as you suggested...but I have linked here
for you, so hopefully, you won't be so rude and insensitive again...

I would have thought someone with such a mighty IQ would have already
known.
Tsk, tsk. |

When I am referred to as a 'moron', 'troll', and a 'Lymenut', I tend to
get a little cranky. Especially after making a comment in a newsgroup
and then immediately get denounced for my comment by people who I don't
even know (or care to). A simple 'You've got it all wrong because....'
would be a lot more appropriate, don't you think?

I have no problem with disagreement and opposing points of view.
However, that is not what happened. I greeted with the above insults so
they were returned.

Sorry for your thyroid condition. In the future, if I need to return an
insult, I'll try to select one that meets with your approval. Maybe you
can suggest something, as you know your condition better than I do.

I brought up my credentials to indicate that I am not a 'moron' as I was
referred to. A moron has an IQ of less than 70, if I remember
correctly. My credentials may not prove that I know anything at all but
I believe they prove that I am not a moron. There are many other ways
of proving one's point but calling people names indiscriminately is not
one of them. |

Well, I don't suffer from "cretinism"...I am just suggesting to you
that you may not wish to employ this term in some of your more
high-browed highly academic verbal exchanges, with some of you equally
high-browed academic aquaintenances, as it tends to reflect negatively
upon you and your sensitivity towards others, you see. They will think
you to be an uncivil cad.
I am not so thin-skinned...I don't care if you call me a "cretin". It
just makes YOU look bad. I thought you and your all-mighty IQ would
like to know that. The term really refers to a horrible genetic
condition that certainly isn't the fault of anyone afflicted with it.
It's sort of rude and insensitive to refer to people as "cretins", you
see.
I meant I have hypothyroidism as a result of Lyme, (which is easily
treatable)...NOT "cretinism".

Yes, and you sign-off with "PhD"...I am certainly extremely impressed,
as I always am with people who make a point of expressing this sort of
thing.
Know what? Doesn't have anything whatever to do with analysis of a
comedy sketch, does it, now?
You know what I find sort of odddly comical...yet frustrating?
Several people who apparently have been on this board in the past have
recently popped in just to bemoan how atrocious it has gotten
here...and say that they are leaving never to come back.
Well, if it is an un-moderated board, then it would seem to me that it
is pretty much up to the posters themselves, what will become of the
board.
And these older members...their reaction is just to flee in
horror...and not stay and make it a better place...
....can't say that I have much respect for that, actually...but to each
his own, I guess... |

Well, see this?
"Are you on Steere's payroll"?
Although you didn't address this to me...I will tell you without
hesitation that I don't think much of the intelligence of the person
who said it.
Someone of your claimed intelligence and education should know better
than to engage in that type of demagoguery.
When you resort to this type of ad hominem, you are just admitting your
own weakness. |

actually, "cretin" refers to infants who are born with congenital
hypothyroidism which goes untreated. the consequence of untreated
congenital hypothyroidism can be profound irreversible retardation.
acquired hypothyroidism in later life does not produce cretinism,
although it can produce profound mental changes which are usually
reversible on treatment. there is no relation between this condition
and lyme disease, none at all.

Thanks for that, we can read, too.
No one said there was any relationship, a*****le. What was said was in
refernece to hypothyroidism being linked with Lyme...not "cretinism".
(Although admittedly, I wasn't very careful about how I expressed
that).
(Now maybe you'd like to explain why you haven't removed any of your
objectionable posts...particularly the ones about Catholics and
Jews...now that you have been told that they are offensive?
Maybe now also you'd like to APOLOGIZE to EVERYONE for the foul,
disgusting nature of your posts.
Maybe you'd like to APOLOGIZE for stooping SO LOW that you actually
FAKED posts and tried to pass them off as others' genuine posts...for
posing REPEATEDLY as others...
....in short...maybe you'd like to APOLOGIZE for being the miserable
abusive TROLL you accuse others of being here?
Probably not.
I don't think you are capable of being that big of a man). |

Not really.
Steere and his friends have very impressive lists of credentials.
Think about it. |

for future insults of dritteman {since you're new to the board} and,
since you are apparently a high caliber mental athlete, I suggest
debating him on issues of logic. he apparently feels that he has
attained complete mastery of this field, although in actuality
virtually everything he writes on this subject is deeply flawed. other
sore spots for dritteman include some sort of leg deformity which
forces him to use a walker {like the ones old ladies use in nursing
homes}' also he suffers from erectile dysfunction and urinary
incontinence.
