Prophylactic Action of Linseed (Linum usitatissimum) Oil Against
Cyclophosphamide-Induced Oxidative Stress in Mouse Brain.
Bhatia AL, Manda K, Patni S, Sharma AL
J Med Food. 2006; 9(2): 261-4
The present study is a pilot study that explores the antioxidative
properties of linseed (Linum usitatissimum) oil in its prophylactic
action against oxidative stress induced by a radiomimetic drug,
cyclophosphamide. Oral administration of linseed oil (0.1 mL/kg of body
weight/day) for 20 days prior to an acute dose of cyclophosphamide (75
mg/kg) significantly inhibited the augmented level of malondialdehyde,
conjugated dienes, and hydroperoxides in the mouse brain. The
cyclophosphamide- induced decline in the levels of reduced glutathione,
glutathione peroxidase, and alkaline phosphatase was also significantly
prevented by linseed oil in mouse blood. Similarly, the increased
activity of acid phosphatase and oxidized glutathione was significantly
inhibited by linseed oil. Results clearly indicate the prophylactic
action of linseed oil against cyclophosphamide- induced oxidative
stress.

Hey, Tom, why don't you buy some 25 cent mice at your local pet store
and feed them high amounts of linseed oil and see how long they live,
relative to mice on a diet high in fresh coconut oil instead? These
are just some markers they are playing around with, and markers of
damage from highly unstable omega 3s are not as well known as those
from omega 6s. Do you really want to risk your life on a study of
markers that may or may not be related to something practical? After
all, it is a biochemical fact that linseed oil is highly unstable,
unlike coconut oil. Doesn't that worry you at all, or are you unaware
of the implications of this fact? |

Hey what is wrong with you people?
In the States, it is Flaxseed oil!!! Linseed oil is used by painters
to clean their paint brushes with.
Some idiot, might actually try to drink linseed oil because of your
idiot post!!!
How about using your brain once in a while?

No, no Mr. Natural-Health (a.k.a. ironjustice et al.). It's Snake Oil!
And all my mice are just so stress free that it's remarkable! Just ask
them. |
