When you get an upset stomach (aspirin, smoking..)
why can it lead to fainting?

I'm guessing maybe the gas bloating blocks some blood vessel?

Nope. Vasovagal response. Stimulation of the autonomic nervous system
via the vagus nerve can cause a transient drop in blood pressure which
makes you faint. In the case of nicotine, the stimulation occurs because
nicotine is a neurotransmitter analog and directly stimulates the
autonomic nervous system. Regular use of nicotine will lead to a
tolerance to this, so the effect tends to lessen the more often you
smoke. But when you quit smoking, there is a rebound effect that can
leave you feeling pretty miserable until your system recovers. That's
one of the things that makes it hard to quit smoking.
