Hi Kara,
I live clear up in Redding <g>. Amazingly, I lived in Aptos for about 1-1/2
years or more, while working for PG&E at the Moss Landing Power Plant.
Sincerely, Bob

I know where Redding is. About 5 years ago I was in Aptos for Pascha
(Greek Easter) and we had a lymie lamb cookout at my brother's place.
One of the Lyme patients who came drove from Redding.
Do you know where Temple Beth El (the Jewish community center) is? If
you take that road, my brother is at the very top of Oak Ridge Road. It
is a b'ful view. Jackson Brown lives behind him. Carolos Santana used
to live on the road, but I think his house burned down.

Hi Kara,
Oak Ridge Road sounds familiar (but it was a LONG time ago when I lived near
there). I never knew where the Jewish Community Center was. I lived in a
two-story condo-like apartment or townhouse, about a block from the coastal
waters (down in a little valley). It had two bedrooms and bathrooms
downstairs, and the kitchen and living/dining room upstairs. Then there was
actually a sort of balcony (small balcony) on the 3rd floor. There were
several units like it, next door. Once we experienced a storm, and sea water
and kelp were washed up to the unit I was living in. Boy that was a LONG
time ago! I bet Aptos has changed a lot since then (I think I was living
there around 1986 or 1987).

You should try out hurricanes. Here in Mobile, Alabama we have plenty.
No sea kelp. Just alligators get washed inland. |

Actually, I think I have been there. One of my brother's friends lives
in one of those townhouses. I thought it was weird because the bedrooms
and bath were downstairs. And then we walked upstairs to the kichen and
living/dining room. There was a balcony off the 2nd floor. But, I didnt
see a 3rd floor.
I used to spend time every year going out that way (until my brother
got married). And also I used to date a guy in Santa Cruz.
I would always forget from year to year just how chilly it can be out
that way. I think "California" and automatically think warm weather.
But normal summer weather to me is 99 degrees with 99% humidity. |

Yeah, the coastal areas of California can be a bit chilly at times, unless
you're down in Southern California, or even central California (aka San Luis
Obispo). I lived there too, for about 5 years. The climate was WONDERFUL
almost year-round! At that time, I was working at the Diablo Canyon Power
Plant. I really miss that part of the country, and that part of my life. It
was the last time I felt happy and healthy. But housing costs began to soar
while living there, and the went up so high, that I couldn't ever afford to
buy a home. I think, now a days, home prices down there are around
$1,000,000.00 or more! I suspect it's about the same in Aptos now.
I couldn't stand 99 degree temperatures with 99% humidity! I'd literally die
within hours! LOL. I have some friends that moved to Alabama (from
California) a few years back. I forget what part of Alabama now, but they're
more inland than you are, I know that much.
These messages are really "off topic" <g>. Feel free to e-mail me if you
have any more comments.
Sincerely, Bob |
