I was to the doctor, because the half of my other eye is totally red, and it
feels like there is some "trash" or "piece" or whatever in my eye. It
bothers me all the time. I´ve had it for 3 days now. The problem is the
eyedoctor did not find anything unusual in the eye. She mensioned the eye is
swollen in a spot. Also she says there has been something in the eye, but it
has gone away. Also she prescribed me some gel to put in the eye, because of
the infection. But the problem IS :
I still feel like there´s the same "trash" or "stuff" in my
eye, it feels like a short piece of hair or something.
Is it common to FEEL that there is something unusual
in the eye when having an eye infection in this case ?
Please Help !

Yes.

However, you always want to rule out a concomitant foreign body,
especially when you have such strong symptomolgy. The eyelid should
be everted, and possibly double everted to rule that out, along with
inspection of the entire fornices as much as possible.

As the healing process goes on, that sensation typically goes away
quickly, especially if you are being compliant with the doctor's
instruction.

If you have a corneal or conjunctival abrasion/erosion you'll have a
foreign body sensation until it heals up. Many times I'll see a
patient who is positive he/she has a foreign body in their eye
and actually it's due to an abrasion or break in the cornea.
This fb awareness should resolve when your infection heals.

Could possibly be due to a small fb caught up in the upper
lid but I'll bet it's due to your corneal ulcer/infection.
