x-no-archive:yes

I am 34, male and 179 lbs. My bodyfat fluctualtes on my scale depending
on time of day between 16-18%. Diabetes runs in my family. (I dont have
it). I have low normal testosterone and take androgel once a day.

My diet is this: Mon-Fri: (Doing this for about two years)

Breakfast: low carb breakfast bar. One sausage. One bananna. One diet
coke. One bottle of water

snack: Turkey jerky or peanuts or blueberries

Lunch: Turkey. I small can of peas. One type of fruit like an apple or
grapes or strawberries.Diet coke

Snack: Turkey Jerky or beanuts or blueberries

Dinner: I spurge and eat whatever my wife fixes as well as snacks.

Weekends:

I spluge and eat whatever my wife fixes. (Within reason.)

I lift wieghts lightly before work Mon-Fri. about 20 minutes. Bench
press, tricep pull downs, shoulder shruggs, incline bench press, lat
pull downs. This is by myself and as I said lightly.

I try to run 3-4 days a week 2.4 miles. It takes me between 20-23
minutes.

I would like to get my bodyfat percentage lower. All my fat is in my
gut and I hate it. I would like to be able to see my stomach muscles.
But my main worry is longevity. Am I eating too much fat? Will this
clog my arteries? I have been trying to eat lower car (not Atkins)
because of the family history of diabetes but am I doing so at the
sacrifice of heart health? (Another family problem. My dad had bypass
at 53 and my uncle in his 40's.) My dad is obese.

Also, will eating a diet such as this cause or contribute to um sexual
problems?\

Thanks for your advice!

When I was 34 my concerns were centered about my family. At 58 no
real change on those concerns. You seem to have many concerns. I'd
address them one at a time starting with the easiest or cheapest Wink)).

The only way is by eating less and being hungrier.

You are simply eating too much.

Quote:
Will this clog my arteries?

The visceral adiposity will lead to clogged arteries.

Until your dad is lean & trim, his coronary disease will continue to
worsen despite the bypass surgery.

Having visceral fat will lead to sexual problems.

I would substitute some of the turkey with fatty fish - salmon, mackerel,
sardines (not fried fish), legumes (lentils, beans, tofu) and other nuts
than peanuts. Also include plenty of vegetables, both raw and cooked, to
your diet. Take care of the quality of fats in your diet. Include extra
virgin olive oil, cold-pressed canola (rapeseed oil) and fish oils to your
diet and eliminate most of other fats. There is nothing wrong in eating some
whole grains. So, you can include some whole grains to your diet also.

Get rid of diet cokes. They contain a lot of phosphoric acid which is not
good for your bone mineral density and teeth. Unsweetened green tea is a
healthier alternative, but drink it in between the meals as it reduces the
absorption of minerals if consumed with meals.

I researched this assertion last year and found it was not true. Only
exception was for colas with caffeine in teenaged girls. Not that I
think soda is a good thing...
