Florence Nightingale's Notes on Nursing

"Florence Nightingale's _Notes on Nursing_ was first published in
England in 1859 and in America in 1860. Her book clearly establishes
her vision of nursing as a genuine natural healing practice, concerned
with preventative medicine, and was a far cry from what the profession
of nursing was to become in the modern health care system.
Nightingale clearly established in her text, in her notes on the
margins, and in her extensive explanatory footnotes that her vision of
nursing clearly reflected many of the essential beliefs of the natural
hygiene movement. She referred to these hygienic beliefs as the 'laws
of life' that would give mothers knowledge of 'how to give their
children healthy existences.' Further, she clearly placed the comfort
and needs of the patient ahead of the thoughtless pursuit of science; a
trait which is more commonly associated today with alternative
medicine, than it is with conventional medicine."
I will put off writing a biography on Florence Nightingale for the time
being in favor of a long over due web page on hygiene. This forth
coming web page will be based almost entirely on Florence Nightingale's
Notes on Nursing as well as some selected writings from John Harvey
Kellogg. Eventually it will be updated with references to sick
building syndrome, etc., in order to give it some recent scientific
research support.

You are Off-Topic, since Florence Nightengale never mentioned enemas of
any kind in her _Notes on Nursing_.

She also believed that pure white sugar was extremely nutritious. Even
a broken clock is right twice a day.

That has got to be the most moronic comment that I have heard in a long
time.
TC, you are nothing, but a total buffoon who doesn't have a clue as to
what he is talking about. So, I am supposed to be all embarrassed by
this stupid reply of yours? And, waste more of my time pointing out
what should be painfully obviously to anybody half-way knowledgeable
about the subject? No, I do NOT think so. :)

Nursing: What is it, today? Should nurses be nothing but frustrated
