teeth still misaligned orthodontist says get veneers

After removing 4 teeth and having braces for 5 years my orthodontist
wants to remove the braces and told me to get veneers. My upper
midline is still way off... at least 2mm. It looks like I have three
front teeth instead of two. Ortho say that since my bite is good in
the back there is nothing left to do but remove the braces and get
veneers. Problem is my bite in back doesn't feel good as good as
before I got braces. Before it felt good in back but I had crowding in
the front. When my ortho was closing the gaps from the removed teeth I
mentioned repeatedly that I didn't like the way they had moved my upper
teeth all to one side. I was told don't worry we'll fix the midline
later... now they are saying the midline can't be fixed. My gaps have
been closed for quite sometime now. I've been wearing rubber bands on
my teeth for over 18 months (and that is only adjustments made in that
time) and instead of moving my upper midline it has shifted my lower
midline so it isn't centered anymore (which I noted to my doctor more
than 3 times) Are veneers my only option for a straight smile? |

Photos would be helpful. Some ortho cases are difficult, and despite
best efforts results sometimes aren't satisfactory. However, I should
caution you that there are definite limits to what can be done with
midline discrepencies using veneers.

2 mm midline discrepency is very minor and is very common in the
general population.
Veneers can help reduse this descrepency more however my question to
you is why did you begin ortho treatment without overall supervision
and treatment plan input from a general dentist? That's like going to a
general contractor to build a building without consulting with an
architect. especially on something serious as removing teeth.

I missed the 2 mm part--thanks for picking that up. Of course, this
would bother some patients more than others. I've seen midlines made to
match with poor axial inclinations--to me this is clearly worse!
