like a CFV where there was a known formula for interpretting it. As I
understand it, the poll is one way to determine if there is sufficient
interest to create the group. It is one of the pieces of information
that the Board will use to make their decision about creating the
group. Since a bunch of people turned up expressing interest after
the poll was over, I'd expect them to weigh that in their decision
too.

Yes.

Proponents should keep track of everyone who has expressed
interest in using the new group.

A list of such posters with a message-ID for the positive
posts would become part of the "Traffic Analysis" for
the proposed group.

I have news for you, Bev. News.groups has changed. The old system has
been dropped and a new system is rising in its place.

Sheep entrails? Each proponent sends you a little something via paypal
to ensure passage?

Much better than that, Bev. There's a whole team working on the
project. They call themselves The Big 8 Management Board. For openers,
see Message-ID: <enhb92ddpqaf32veisbn9rctsjrck3di61@4ax.com

That's very interesting. I was unable to find a list of Board members.
Got one?

The new system might be more efficient and less, um, violent, but I find
the general idea of ANY centralized anonymous authority disturbing.

Thanks for the feedback. I hope you heal soon. I've put my mouse
under my keyboard (the keyboard is on a plank propped up on bricks)
because I was getting murderous shoulder pain from stretching to
reach the mouse all day long.

Consider a lapdesk: a flat surface (12"x18" perhaps) with a lightweight
beanbag-like understructure. My mom doesn't have room for a mouse at
the side of the keyboard, and the lapdesk works fine.

Sounds like either pain or fun. Hope it works out well -- the creation
of rec.sking.alpine.moderated was LOTS more pain than fun.

The very first link on the home page goes to this list:

This is linked from the phrase "Big-8 Management Board" not only
on the home page, but in other parts of the web site as well.

This is a list of pages that seem to link back to the current page.

Thanks, I found that later but I had posted before I finished hunting.
Gotta watch that.

Ya know, I and a whole lot of others don't give a s**t about your
stupid pissing wars. But to say something like this about anyone is
just pure evil. God forbid you should ever lose your eyesight. And
thanks to assholes like you the group vote was negative, which is a
shame because a lot of vision-impaired people need a group like this.

could you please explain what vote you are referencing? i thought it had
not gone to CFV yet? did i miss something scanning through this very
active group?

The Big 8 is under new management (The Big-8 Management Board) and CFVs
have been suspended until further notice. The vote "L" is referring to
is a Straw Poll I took regarding soc.support.vision-impaired. The Real
Bev urged people to ignore it, and "L" suspects that adversely affected
the result. There is no way of knowing for sure.

Hope this helps.
