Is anything a natural beta blocker? I take inderal, and am wondering if
there is a natural alternative.

I guess hawthorn (/Crataegus/) extract has some similar effects but I am not
sure if it can be called a natural beta blocker. Hawthorn should not be used
with Inderal as it may raise blood pressure. Sometimes magnesium has been
called a natural beta blocker.

I am interested in info on this as well. I was recently dropped by my VA
doctor because I can't afford to make a 200 mile trip every month for him to
check my BP, pulse and weight and pick up my heart meds. He had me on HCTZ
and I still have about a dozen of my beta blockers...metoprolol tartrate.
My wife did some looking around and also came up with hawthorn as a possible
substitue. Any info is appreciated.

Beta-blockers are used in the treatment of high blood pressure
(hypertension).

Of course there is. The problem is you that you do NOT want to pay the
price required by a natural alternative.

Dietary Interventions, Physical Exercise Interventions , and Deep
Breathing Exercises are used in the natural treatment of high blood
pressure (hypertension).

There is nothing natural about popping pills.

Website http://www.mssm.edu/cvi/beta.shtml#q9 says no.

If you merely want to lower your blood pressure, you might want to try
some other drugs, so talk to your doctor.

There are also plenty of nutritional means to lower blood pressere. The DASH
diet, pomegranate juice, plus sodium reduction are some of the most
efficient means to do it.

Why was propranolol prescribed in the first place? Depending on the
indication, going natural could result in your death but YMMV.

Buy your beta blocker internationally.

Something up with this. The poster is not telling all the facts. The
Veterans administration reimburses the patient on a per-mile basis for the
journey to the VA hospital or clinic.

I'm not aware of that, but I still can't afford to lose a day's wages and
pay up front for gas and sit around and wait for reimbursment. My PC at the
VA dropped me because I had not been back for my annual checkup yet and it
wasn't going to be possible for me to get up there anytime soon. My point
is that it looks to me like it is going to be more affordable for me to
switch to the herbal meds rather than what it's going to cost me for VA meds
and losing a day's pay every time I have to go to the VA.
