Gallium scan, lymphoma, Lots of questions
|
|
|
I am male 34 years old. 2 years ago I noticed I would have intermittent
fevers. I get a fever quickly for no reason, feel terrible for a day or
so have chills headach etc, then the next day it was gone. It semed
worse around the March April time frame.
Last year happened around April. Had bloodwork a day after an episode.
My c-reactive protein was 54. (Very high). Was refered to an infectious
disease doctor. Had a Gallium scan. There was an area next to my
diaphram on my right side with "significant gallium uptake". Only area
on the entire scan. Had a chest ct the following week. It showed
everything normal, including size of lymphnodes. She said not to worry
about it.
Fast forward to march of this year. From March 1 to April 1 I had one
day each week the fevers come back. One time getting at high as 102.6.
SOemtimes just around 100. Was on Tamiflu, Septra, and zithromax. Still
had fevers after that. I have not had one now since around the end of
April.
I guess I worry in the back of my mind what if the spot was really
lymphoma or something that was not picke dup in the follwoing ct scan?
Is that possible? Why is it worse in the springtime? (Although it does
happen other times trhoughout the year, just not as often).
I tried to make an appointment with the infectious disease doctor I had
last year, but since it has been a year she said I would have to be
refered again. So I go to a GP today at lunch.
I had soem more blood work last month. Tested negative for lupus. Had a
LDH test which normally shows lymphoma that was negative. Tested
negative for lyme. (technically) Apparently, you have to test positive
in five bands to have lyme. I tested positive in only three. The doctor
said the three I tested positive for were strongly correleated with
lyme so he put me on a trial of doxycycline for 3 weeks.
I am just at wits end. I am scared about the lymphoma since I have a
one year old at home and a 6 year old.
On a wim I had an allergy test last week. I tested negative for
everything with the exception of corn pollen. I have 100s of acres of
corn around me but it does not pollenate until late summer.
I am just worried about everything and dont know what to do. |

It doesn't sound like a presentation for lymphoma. |

Look ... there are no guarantees in life. A negative CT scan is a good |
sign. The only other thing I can suggest that you look into is a CT-PET
scan.

Because it doesn't sound like lymphoma. It could be, but almost certainly
isn't |

Then what is your diagnosis, doctor, since you have excluded lymphoma ? |

I haven't excluded lymphoma, as you would realise if you didn't have a
comprehension problem. I don't have another diagnosis - neither do his
physicians.
Perhaps you could help? |
