Hello:

68 yr old white male. Good health.

I take my blood p every day at pretty much the same time.
7:30 AM, right after showering and shaving, and prior to any medications,
coffee or breakfast.
Take Zestril, Lipitor and Prevacid every day (after the blood p reading)

It is fairly constant at around 130 over 70.

Every now and then, though, I get an incredibly low reading.

e.g., this morning it was 84 over 44.

Any possible significance to this ?

Seems to be a very low rdg. like this about once every three weeks or so.

Thanks,
Bob

I suspect those readings may be unreliable. I suggest you make sure
that you are seated properly, resting for at least five minutes before
the test. Make sure the cuff is placed properly and that it is not too
tight. Make sure the tube lines up your arm with your little finger
when your palm is up. Also, you may wish to have your monitor checked
on your next doctor's appointment.

If you get a very low or suspect reading, you may wish to retest in 10
minutes.

Hypotension is a possible side effect of Zestril especially if you are
somewhat dehydrated, have been perspiring or urinating excessively. You
may want to make note of what your prior activities were in the night
and day preceding the low reading. Had you changed your diet, failed to
drink enough?

You should also be cautioned against excessive use of salt substitutes
containing potassium. Watch your caffeine consumption too.

If you are without symptoms, the possibility of measurement error will
need to be considered.
