I've been on avalide for over a year keeping my BP
in a very good range (never above 125/85 at home or
the doctor's office). My cholesterol has started
going up and my doctor put me on crestor. I was
hesitant about it since I have fibro and was worried
about telling what pain was what. I've also been
making positive changes--doing circuit training (Curves),
walking every other day, doing yoga stretches so
I was feeling pretty good the first 5 weeks on Crestor.
Then, boom, the body pain started. I wasn't sure if
it was Crestor, a fibro flare, my pushing myself too
much or what. Another minor nag was that when I saw
the rhemy, my blood pressure had gone up (I had lost
weight from all the positive stuff I did). I was 148/95.
This was after 2 weeks on crestor.
Well based on the pain level, my doctor told
me to stop the crestor (still don't know the results
of the blood work--that was Friday). I was very wiped
over the weekend but the body pain is way down. My
blood pressure when my doctor saw me wasn't horrible
(130/8Cool but it wasn't as good as it had been just a
month before. I know bp is a moving target but my own
readings after the rhemy vist were up there, too.
Well, I took it a couple of times over the weekend
and it was back down. Last night is was 110/74. Is
this all just weird coincidence or can statins raise
blood pressure? Or was that just my body's first sign
that all was not well with my muscles (even though I
wasn't feeling the body pain yet)?
