? about nurse immigrant ?
|
|
|
i have a woman friend who is planning on coming to the usa from the
republic of georgia next year...
this woman has a good number of years as a "surgical nurse" in a
hospital...
can this woman work in the usa in nursing and what must she do to be
eligible for this?
all comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated! thank you, and
God bless you in your work and rest!

Check with a local hospital.
Ask if they have a program to assist your friend in getting a visa with
permission to work and a job.

i agree with you, some hospitals may work with your friend. I've been
told that if you go to a differnet state to work, you have to get
certified to work in that state. |

She should also contact the Board of Nursing in the state in which she
plans to practice (these can be found at
http://www.ncsbn.org/regulation/boardsofnursing_boards_of_nursing_board.asp
).
If she plans to practice as an RN, she'll need to take the licensing
examination (the NCLEX exam). Many states may require her first to take
a screening exam administered by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign
Nursing Schools (CGFNS). I believe that CGFNS also does most of the
visa screening process as well. They are at www.cgfns.org .

My personal experience with nurses from Eastern Europe has been very
positive. I find them to be very competent and caring and very supportive of
men in nursing. |
