I am a nursing student with mild/moderate hearing loss on both ears.
I can hear lung sound good. The problem I have is hearing weak heart
sound
and blood pressure sound.

I need people's advise/opinion about some electronic stethoscope out
there, particularly, Littmann 4000 and JABES. If you have any other
good ones, please let me know.

Thank you,
Sharon

After many years flying airplanes, my hearing isn't the very best any more.
When I got out of nursing school, my family sprung for a Littman Master
Cardiology. To make it especially sensitive I opted for the shortest tubing
offered. They work great for that which they were designed. The only
shortcoming from choosing that short tube is taking blood pressures: I have to
bend over more than I would if I was still using my old Rappaport style.
Fortunately, I don't have to take vitals all that often. My assistants
generally do that for me. I use mine 95% of the time for assessing chest
sounds.

Still, when my assistants have problems hearing a blood pressure they come to me
to borrow my stethescope....

I used to work with a nurse with a severe hearing deficit and she used on of
those electronic stethescopes. It worked well for her. I wish I could tell you
what kind it was but it's been too long.
