my cardiologist wants me to add other types of exercise to my
walking..our local community center has recumbent bikes and these seem
comfortable - any suggestions on level, targt heart rate, time on the
machine,etc......I also have some sore hamstring muscles and neck and
shoulder pain.
thanks

Your cardiologist should recommend your target heart rate. It depends on
things like the drugs you are taking, your age, and your resting HR. You
should work up to that and do a warm up and cool down. I do 27 minutes - for
strange reasons known only to me - at mostly level 6 on a Lifecycle.

Ouch. There should be some sort of trainers at the center who can help you
with pre- and post- workout stretching. The bad news is that you have to
hold each stretch for about a minute (not the 20 seconds you did in your
youth). |
