Last week, ABC News covered a story that the oils of lemon and
eucalyptus were effective in detering mosquitoes that potentially carry
the West Nile Virus.

The report noted that several foreign countries have already
successfully used lemon and eucalyptus oils for this purpose. But now
the US (FDA? CDC?) also agrees.

A word of caution, when using lemon oil and eucalyptus oil, be sure to
use a carrier oil, or the oils might cause a strong skin irritation.

I've found eucalyptus to be a fairly effective topical pain reliever
for an old rib injury, too, especially when combined with sage oil.
