I have just experienced stomach pain for about an hour which seemed to
resolve itself. The pain itself was almost agonising at times.

I had the same pain yesterday but it didn't last for long. In both
cases it seemed to start after lying down (in both cases in order to
sleep). The pain is located in my stomach I think. It's toward the
front and not far above my navel. It's kind of difficult to describe
but it sort of feels like somethings tight or tightening or perhaps in
spasm. Applying a hot water bottle (an intervention suggested by a
friend who claimed it helped stomach pains) exacerbated this sensation
and also the pain so i stopped doing that.

As for diet I recently went on a low calorie weightloss diet which I
maintained for approximately 1 month. Recently I'm having exams so am
under quite a high level of stress, have been feeling somewhat down
and have reverted to eating high amounts of glucose containing foods
and the like. I have also recently started taking multivitamins (not
the high dose ones designed to wake you up, gives around 100% rda of
various vitamins).

I have had 2000mg of paracetamol during today for headaches I'm also
experiencing (1000mg about 4 hours appart) and the last dose was quite
a while prior to the pain.

In both cases when I've had the pain I have taken Andrews Salts
(Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate Ph Eur 22.6% w/w, Citric Acid Ph Eur
19.5% w/w and Magnesium Sulphate 17.4% w/w. Also contains 2.1 g of
sucrose per 5 ml spoonful) but I'm not sure if this in any way helped
relieve the pain or not. I did not take any pain killers for the
stomach pain as I believe that's what you're supposed to do!?!

I think it may possibly be gastritis. However I have a final year
university exam on monday, need to revise and take the exam so I may
have difficulty seeking medical advice unless I experience pain which
makes it a necessity. I know it woudn't be the end of the world if I
couldn't take the exam but I'm sure all of you who've been in this
situation are aware of the merits etc etc :-)

I guess my plan should be stop drinking carbonated drinks, drink
plenty of water, and limit intake of glucose containing foods.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

bananas, white rice, water, toast (plain) or white bread, tea, baby foods

(part of that is the BRAT diet - if you eat applesauce, eat it with bread)

Don't end a meal with fluid.
take the vitamins before /with the meals (don't take all the vitamins with
one meal/take some with one meal and the rest with another meal)

sleep sitting up
If the headaches don't clear, take the paracetamol with foods
small meals
Get to your doctor soonest, especially if it doesn't help and/or worsens.
For all we know, you could have ulcers.

It could be other things...
