automated pharmacy machines for refills

To the sci.med.pharmacy newsgroup:
In 1997, I posted a message on this newsgroup stating that I predicted 2005
would be the year that automated retail prescription dispensing would begin
to become commonplace. My prediction was correct! See

I don't know, dude, this machine doesn't seem too impressive: Sounds
like the pharmacy folks do the refill, then put the bag in the machine
so a patient can retrieve it and pay for it at their convenience.
I envision a system where the MD enters the rx on his palm pilot, and
the filled prescription comes out of a vending machine. I'm a little
surprised that such a system doesn't exist already, but I'll bet that
more than one company is trying to develop it. |
