I'm having problems with periodic tachycardia (around 120-125 at
it's apex, usually takes about 6-8 hrs. to wind back down to my
normal 75-80.) Whenever this happens, when I'm out and about
walking, it's accompanied with this feeling of being somewhat out of
touch with reality. I don't feel light headed per se, it's more
like the world around me takes on a dream like quality, Like I'm a
little stoned I guess (I've never smoked pot etc., so I really
don't know. Anyway, is there a clinical designation for said symptom
during tachycardia?

Also, would diabetes if I had it, be detected in all those blood work
and urine tests (in relation to my heart) that have been done lately? I
ask this because I've been told that the above symptom, can also be
caused by diabetes, hypoglycemia et al. I don't want to get into
going in for superfluous tests.

Thanks so much and God bless.

Most people would describe this as either "light-headed" or "dizzy."

Serum glucose is typically part of standard lab testing. HgbA1C could
be added for additional sensitivity especially if there is concern about
excessive postprandial (after meal) elevations in blood glucose.

Would suggest you seek a referral to see a cardiologist.

I was thinking along the same lines, but decided against it because
there's no vertigo involved. I've put this to the test by walking a
straight line, standing on one foot and swiveling etc. I just simply
feel "spaced out" visually. When I close my eyes the sensation
isn't there.

Already done I'm glad to say (a board certified Yale graduate no less).
He has me on a two week event monitor right now. I'll be seeing him
again July 11. He looked over my ekg's, blood work,
nuclear medicine test and echocardiogram, he didn't seem the least bit
worried about what he saw. It seems the only real problem I have
that's been diagnosed so far, is that my heart has started to enlarge
slightly(probably over a period of years) due to it's workload, and the
workload needs to be brought under control so that the enlargement can
reverse.

Thank you again,

Brian

Vertigo is something entirely different.

Yes, the heart enlargement would be a concern.
