A few years ago I was diagnosed with a heart problem and stumbled onto this
NG, which I found helpful at the time.

One particular contributor - I think it was Dr. Andrew Chung - was
especially helpful in the advice he gave. I do not recall him being a
proselityzer in those days. The newsgroup itself was pretty healthy. No
flame wars. None of the childish stuff I see on here now.

This NG now appears to be virtually useless to somebody who might wish to
discuss illness. I hope all you guys are happy with the way you have
successfully transformed sci.med.cardiology into an embicile's playground.

I just ignore people who proselityze.

Life's too short to argue with Andrew.

I've learned my lesson.

Jeff

Dear Jeff,

The problem is not that life's so short, but that you will be dead so
long.

No, the problem is that some people think they won't be.

John actually knows he will have eternal life.

Without proper evidence, 'knowledge' is arrogance.

Not for the arrogant.

If you're concerned with bandwidth, perhaps you should address your concerns
to the chief bandwidth waster (i.e., Chung).

Alternatively, you might want to consider upgrading to broadband and/or
employing filters in your newsreader.

So how about if I'm concerned with cardiac issues and don't feel as though I
have to have a screen full of unopened posts with titles such as Al chooses

easily discernable and deleted. Which of Al's posts have any value, other

I wish you well with a speedy recovery after the surgery.

I've been reading this group for quite a while and my experience is that if
you want good cardiology advice it is worth listening to what Andrew has to
say, whatever your position on the religious stuff.

I wouldn't ever want to "proselytize", but it is worth remembering
Christianity is a pretty wacko business. Just read the Bible and you are
likely to find it littered with wackoness from beginning to end. Beng wacko
isn't necessarily the same thing as being incorrect or inconsiderate
however.

Sure, there's a lot of naff churches and a lot of naff, misguided and
judgmental Christians out there. I've seen a whole load of it. But I'm not
sure Andrew is one of them.

I agree having just stumbled onto this ng after just having coronary
bypass
surgery.
Dr. Chung is the first entry in my newsgroup killfile, so I never will see
his posts again.
Proselytizing from a wacko like this, especially to those of us who are
non-christian, no matter how adequate his medical opinion as a doctor may
be, just conveys to me how inconsiderate a person he actually is.
I hope his Atlanta hospital eventually has a long hard talk with him.

Simple, then...killfile or ignore Al's posts.

If you look far enough back in the archives, however, you'll see that this
NG used to have a higher signal-to-noise ratio prior to Andy's descent into
hyperreligiosity. He's the one responsible initiating most of the "noise".
And even though I sometimes reply to him, in his current mental state it's
