Hi I have 2 teeth on left lower side, 2 molars that are worn down to
the gum line and are very decayed. I don't think the nerves are dead
yet. How difficult is it to get these teeth out? Cutting the gums?
Stiches. The oral surgeon did not say much about how they are to come
out and what is involved. What kind of post-op recovery here? Just a
weekend off from work?
Thanks for the info.
Jd.

Details would require knowing more, and probably seeing x-rays. But
unless there is something unusual about the roots of your tooth, the
average oral surgeon should be able to take these teeth out in a few
minutes, plus anesthesia. The gum may need to be cut, and the roots
possibly sectioned. This is very, very routine. You may need a couple
of stitches, and your surgeon should give you all necessary postop
instructions and pain medications. Depending upon the severity and how
much digging, you may be able to go back to work the next day. A
weekend of taking it easy should be adequate for all but the most
difficult cases.

Hope this helps,
Steve

To tell you the truth, thyese are easier to yank than
normal teeth. We remove them by the root surface anyway.

Depends on the skill level of the dentist doing the extraction, your
age, and bone quality.
For me it is very easy but I have a lot of experience extracting teeth.
All oral surgeons are capable of removing these teeth otherwise they
are in the wrong profession.
