<http://i3.tinypic.com/15d9ipv.jpg> front
Can any one please identify the model and age?

Can ypou make out the model no stamped here:
<http://i4.tinypic.com/15d9ceu.jpg> inside R temple

LIFO-111 (last in first out?)
TIFO-111

I doubt it's the frame dims as they are stamped inside the bridge.

Thanks

Who cares? It is ugly, dag city plus. It would be 30-40 years old and
well out of production.

New Zealand is pretty backwards, but this is ridiculous.

Hey, be careful what you call ugly!

I owned and proudly wore that very model circa 1974. Thought it was
something special and beautiful then!

Great. Do you recall the model number, or can you decipher what's
stamped on the right temple: <http://i4.tinypic.com/15d9ceu.jpg>?

That was an unnecessary comment, and gratuitously offensive.
As a New Zealander I say to you: "*GET STUFFED!*, Seppo!"

don't remember the model, it was thirty years ago and I was a student.
There is no model # in your photo, just the word Italy.

Why do you want it?

Then what are the characters *after* the word ITALY?

I'm a jeweller and I make eyeglasses, and the owner of a broken Safilo
frame has commissioned me to make a gold frame based on it. I'll mimic
the general shape but make a stronger hinge and perhaps a stronger
bridge. I want to know what those letters mean, and what model it is,
just to complete the picture.

Thanks

The series was called UFO followed by a style number. Sometimes, you
can advertise in an optical newspaper for older model frames.
Sometimes, there may be enough old parts at Safilo, the manufactuer, to
put together a whole frame or possibly they may have a whole frame in
stock. However, 25-30 years is a long time although some styles are
timeless. Remember the old rectangular plastic frame that Henry
Kissinger wore all the years he worked in the Nixon Administration?
Fortune by Liberty Optical - a frame style that lasted between 20-30
years. Today, I think the average life of a frame style is about a
year if you are lucky!

STFU dumb coconut.

First I am Australian, second I can spell my name correctly.

Having been to NZ on many occasions, I can speak with authority on your
backwardness.

Besides, wait till the tri-nations and watch us kick your collective
asses.

That's not a UFO model. They were super thin for their time, like
stainless steel frames are today.

Why don't you try emailing safilo? Go to their web page or try
safilo.co.nz?
