He deserved what he got. You stick up for quacks like this?

There are many former patients of LLMD's around this country who would
testify in a heartbeat about the crap that is going on like this.

Well, "Georgia"...with all due respect (which certainly isn't very
much, since you are obviously impersonating another poster)...

....I would suggest to you that you really NO basis to conclude one way
or the other about this case unless you sat there and heard all the
evidence presented...same as all the LymeNUTs who have the exact
opposite opinion.

Each case is different and hopefully decided on its own merits.

I wouldn't suggest defending someone who is sticking IVs in people who
are complaining of headaches and joint pain without some history of
tickbite or positive bloodwork...

....and I don't know how some of these guys justify extended IV
treatment...what's the rationale as opposed to orals...

....but just given the number of these prosecutions...I think it is hard
to argue that there isn't some sort of "enforcement" action being taken
by someone.

What effect do you suppose this has on your average general
practitioner?

Don't you think this sort of thing might deter some from treating Lyme
disease if they fear losing their license...their livelihood?

Board suspends doctor's license for 1 year

Posted on Fri, Jun. 16, 2006

The N.C. Medical Board decided Thursday night to suspend for one year
the license of a Charlotte doctor, finding he committed unprofessional
conduct in treating Lyme disease patients.

Dr. Joseph Jemsek was charged with improperly diagnosing Lyme disease
and violating medical standards by treating patients with large,
prolonged doses of intravenous antibiotics.

Jemsek, also known for his treatment of AIDS patients, also was accused
of failing to inform his patients that his method of treatment is not
in line with medical standards.

Two days of testimony concluded around 8 p.m., and the 12-member
Medical Board retired into closed session.

Earlier in the day, the board heard from experts who said the illness
was complicated to detect and treat. Symptoms are often vague and the
bacteria that causes the disease reacts differently to drugs than does
other bacteria, they said.

The science-heavy discussion followed testimony Wednesday from a former
patient who spent several days in intensive care and from a man whose
wife died while being treated by Jemsek.
