A positive dimension to disease treatment: Disease and Cancer.
The current drive to 'attack', to 'beat' cancer is a somewhat negative
approach to the problem, that comes with it a lack by some health care
professionals, to ignore a more positive approach to the human body and
a major component found within it, the bacterial intestinal flora, the
bacteria and other microorganisms that normally inhabit the intestinal
track, that creates the symbiotic relationship between body and host,
that processes food and generates many of the chemcials the body needs
to function.
The problem is that when an individual is given too many anti-biotics,
they not only kill the harmful bacteria within the body, but also kill
what is called the 'friendly' bacteria that is in the intestinal
system and a key component of the bodys ability to process food and all
the necessary chemicals. How many times have you heard of 'chemical
imbalances ?
In speaking with a farmer last week he told me that after giving a head
of cattle anti-biotics he was informed that the animal was dying from
too much anti-biotics and that some new 'flora' or friendly bacteria
had to be put into the animal. Upon doing this the cattle recovered.
With humans, the problem is that some doctors are not aware of this,
some are. The importance of introducing 'friendly bacteria' into a
person who been treated with a great many anti-biotics is a positive
approach designed to 'replant' the friendly bacteria that is critical
to the human existence.
This flora is often referred to as probiotics, and is defined as live
microbial feed supplements which beneficially affect the host animal by
improving its intestinal microbial balance. In humans, lactobacilli are
commonly used as probiotics, either as single species or in mixed
culture with other bacteria. This important entity, can be found in
pill form in some drug stores and can be aquired inexpensively through
eating yogurt, in fact some new labels now promote the addition of
additional strains of flora.
This approach is not one of attacking the 'problem' directly, but of
providing the a 'positive culture' to allow it to promote the necessary
chemcial processes; the lack of focus on this component of health may
be a critical component in solving many health problems including
cancer.
(Dedicated to Bruno who passed away today following a lengthy battle
with cancer and a recent barrage of anti-biotics that may have not been
required ) |
