I have permission from book publisher Press On Regardless
to distribute an excerpt from "Turning Heads," a collection
of powerful photographs of beautiful, bald women. They are
bald because they have cancer. They are beautiful because
they have been buffed by stylists and captured by some of
the best photographers in the world -- four Pulitzer Prize
winners among them. And they are powerful because they no
longer hide their cancer -- or hide behind it.

Many women diagnosed with cancer fear losing their hair
more than losing their lives. This fear can prevent them
from getting proper treatment. When they do get treatment,
hair loss adds insult to injury and can lead to lowered
self-esteem.

The standard reaction is to cover up with a wig or scarf,
but that's not true anymore, according to editor Jackson
Hunsicker, who spent five years assembling these inspiring
images. "The women in these pictures are out in the world,
doing things, getting on with their lives while they
recover. They teach us all a much needed lesson that bald
is a look you can live with."

The excerpt I'm distributing features a photograph by film
producer and children's book author Patricia Ruben.
To get the excerpt, send mailto:stevokeefe@bellsouth.net
with the subject line "Send Ruben." Because the excerpt
includes an image, I have to send the photo as a file
attachment. If you cannot receive file attachements, you
can find the photo at http://tinyurl.com/l9enb.

Cancer did not make these women bald. It was poison that made them
bald.
These women were poisoned.

The notion that these poisoned women would be used as a promotion
because, "This fear can prevent them [women with cancer] from getting
PROPER treatment," is simply cruel and calculating. [caps added]

If these women had received PROPER treatment, they would NOT be bald.
The women are beautiful, but the people using these women to promote
chemical abuse of cancer patients is truly ugly.

Mel, I'm not selling any cancer treatment. There are many ways to cure
cancer , including stuff you can buy in the produce section of your
grocery store, such as hot peppers or ginger combined with cloves of
garlic. You can cure yourself for under $20.

It's the publishers of the book who are selling something...don't be
surprised if we find out that the publisher is a front for a drug
company.

I was replying to the originator of this thread....

and just so you know,
alt.baldspot is a very serious newsgroup that is decicated
to perhaps the greatess illness of our generation.

We don`t have time to waste on trivial things such as "Cancer". Heck, we
have had (a) cancer in this group since 1999 that we can`t get rid of.

It's appalling just how lightly some people take baldness.Maybe they should
walk a mile in a bald person's shoes? Except for xxxxx's shoes,you wouldn't
want to get anywhere near them without a fumigator.
