Are Acuvue Oasys better than 1-Day Disposables?

The best clarity and comfort in a soft contact lens I ever had was with
the original Johnson & Johnson Acuvue 1-Day Disposables. I was
thrilled with them.

As some of you may recall, J & J was sued in court because of their
marketing of these new lenses. I vaguely recall that the exact same
lens was marketed as a 1-day and also as a longer wearable lens, and
the price charged was different according to the marketing. J & J
eventually settled a class-action lawsuit over this. (I personally
felt that they should have the capitalistic right to market and charge
as they saw fit).

Because of this lawsuit, did they change their manufacturing process of
the 1-day disposable lens? I suspected such since I sensed that the
lenses were not as good as they were originally. Does anyone know for
a fact if they did change, or was I imagining it?

My next question: The Acuvue 1-Day Disposables have 58% (or 52%?)
water content, while the new Oasys have 38% water content but
purportedly a better sense of hydration due to the substance they're
made of. Does this make sense? Which will provide better comfort for
me, assuming I'm not sensitive or allergic to the new substance? Are
the Oasys truly superior or just more affordable over the long term?

My new doctor just switched me from the Acuvue's to the Ciba Day &
Nites, but I'm finding them less comfortable, so I intend to ask that I
try the Oasys or my old Acuvues.

Any suggestions?
