As the United States runs short of nurses, U.S. opening its doors to
immigrant nurses:

Its very alarming and It's no secret that the United States has a
nursing shortage, one that promises to grow to alarming proportions.
Too many nurses are retiring, and too few are entering the profession.
To compound the problem, within the next 5 to 10 years, over 76 million
Baby Boomers are scheduled to retire from the workforce, with only
about 44 million Generation X'ers available to pick up the slack. This
will soon place unprecedented demands for health care agency services /
home care agency services on a system that is already stretched thin.
The problem is not limited to hospital nursing. Today, there is also a
critical shortage of nursing faculty. As a result, thousands of
qualified men and women who want to enter the field are being turned
away by the nation's schools of nursing.

And we can capitalize on this business opportunity, by having a our own
Nursing Agency, wherein we dont have to be a nurse just to start this
business. All we need is the desire to be self employed to be able to
tap into this multi billion dollar business.

How better to create a self-fulfilling prophecy of a nursing
shortage in America than to just let in lots of Filipina nurses now?
If too few Americans are becoming nurses, is it - in part at least -
because they see all the Filipinas in some regional nursing job markets
and wonder if becoming an RN themselves will lead nowhere as more
Filipina nurses continue to enter the American nursing job market,
particularly in their region?

I'm a 8 year experienced RN that has just moved to Louisville Kentucky and
I'm seeking a job on a telemetry/cardiac floor. I have about 1 year
telemetry floor experience and I am having trouble finding a job. I have
not even gotten an interview yet and its been 1.5 months. Turns out lots of
the hospitals here hire overseas workers. Why hire an american for a
competitive salary of $23/hr when you can hire an overseas worker for $15-18
an hour. Hopefully I will get lucky soon.

Unfortunately, the USA is now in the grips of "Monopoly Capitalism."
The fact that approximately 40% of the nurses in the USA are foreign
born is one proof of the same.
In "monopoly captalism" capital is exported rather than finished goods.
What is capital? Capital is money, industry, and labor.
The exportation of labor can take many forms including illegal
immigration, unjust legal immigration, and outsourcing.
"Monopoly capitalism" destroys "true capitalism".
"True capitalism" is defined as being inclusive of free enterprise and
competition.
"Monopoly capitalism" tends to impoverish the native country's
citizenry and enrich a few individuals and entities as well as
concentrate both wealth and political power in the same.
"True capitalism" tends to spread both wealth and political power
amongst the general citizenry.
It is clear that "Monopoly Capitalism" in the USA has had a highly
detrimental affect on job security, professional standards, and working
conditions not only for nurses but for many other professional and
non-professional citizen workers of the USA.
It is time for the citizens of the USA to alter the current "winner
take all" form of electoral representation to some form of
"proportional electoral " representation in order to return political
power to the American citizenry such that the social contract embodied
in the Pre-amble to the U.S. Constition can be fulfilled.

Marcus,

You are describing certain trends that led to the fall of Rome, among other
empires. You forgot to include how well to do people took their money out
of business investments and bought land, leading to the collapse of the
urban economy, the formation of the "villa" system, and eventual feudalism.
These things happen according to cycles. The current real estate boom could
be the beginning of the end of our capitalistic system, or just a smaller
cycle.
