Acuvue Oasis quality issues
|
|
|
Hi all,
I have gotten Acuvue Oasis around Sept. '05, and they were definitely
more comfortable than the lenses I was wearing before.
On the other hand, the quality issues with the lenses themselves were
quite horrendous. Basically, I'd say that good 33-40% of all lenses I
had to discard because of either:
1) they did not seem to have been of the right strength, which is after
my eyes would adjust, I could definitely see the strength difference
2) they were severely warped, and would not go back to the spherical
shape, so the image would be permanently blurred
3) had uneven edges what made them impossible to be worn comfortably
Now, I have encountered such issues with the previous brand I was
using, but there the problems were in no more than ~10% of all lenses.
Here is it just unacceptable.
Did anyone encounter such problems with Oasis lenses as well? Or was I
just very unlucky to get a bad batch?
Thanks! |

What is your glasses pescription and what are those contacts? Because
of vertex distance, you need to account for the difference, this could
be the cause of most of your troubles with your contacts being too
strong. I have those contacts too and they are stronger than glasses |

you are an idiot. he has worn other brands of contacts without these
problems. furthermore he states that the problem occurred between
different lenses in the box, not with every pair. vertex power
differences are the same between every brand of contact and don't vary
between difference lenses in a box.
just because you know that vertex distance is an issue when choosing
contact lens powers doesn't mean that everyones contact problems must
be related to that. once again you give yourself too much credit for
understanding things that you really don't. your ego is larger than
your understanding of vision.
to answer the original posters question-- I have not noticed any
problems with batch or lens variability with AV Oasys. In fact I am
rather positive about the lens-- most of my patients seem to like it as
do I. It is a healthy lens for your eyes, and it is comfortable as
well. I have heard other docs here in this forum comment that the lens
seems to accumulate deposits after about 2 weeks so it may get dirty a
little faster than some lenses do. |

I have tried many brands and most brands are stronger diopter for
diopter than glasses but I had focus day and night that got me by
supprise how weak they were. The power was -3 and -3.25 yet they felt
weaker than my -3.25 glasses! They should have been near or equal to -4
glasses like every other contact ive tried! My Oasis -2 contacts are as
strong as -2.5 glasses. Its funny how crappy soft contacts are and how
much they vary from brand to brand, contact to contact and even how
they behave on different eyes! The thing I like about glasses is they
are much more consist but contacts are all over the place!
Overcorrections happen alot with contacts and unless your presbyopic
you wont even notice any blur but may get eyestrain and fratigue as you
constantly accomodate. |

Hey, I've been trying to wear them for a month now too. I noticed that
I first noticed that I couldnt use my usual solution with advance and
these also. Then I noticed the same thing you would.....in my right eye
it would seem like the lens would be a little more blurry than the
left.....it also happens with my left eye sometimes....my doctor blamed
dryness and now I am trying a pair of o2optix i obtained and i still
have a little bit of a problem with the right eye but that eye has
always been a little worse than the left. However I am not having as
many problems with blurring as i did with oasys.
have you seen any improvements?
