Hello,

I had oral surgery exactly two weeks ago, they removed my lower wisdom
teeth and one molar next to a wisdom tooth, the wisdom teeth were fully
impacted.
I have not had a bad time with it and expereinced almost no pain (I
only took Ibprophen the first week). I was on a round of pennicilin
both before and after the surgery. The only thing that is bothering me
is I have a horrible taste in the back of my mouth since the surgery
and it won't go away. I do not have any real pain anymore, no swelling
that I can see (In fact I really never had much swelling). The taste is
similiar to a sort of mucky "morning mouth" taste and it does go away
as the day prgresses and I've eaten or drank liquids. But I have not
had this taste in my mouth since I was a kid.
Does anyone know if I should be alarmed about this taste. Does anyone
know what causes this "morning mouth" taste. Dose anyone know how long
the socketts take to heal and when I can stop being so worried about
deep infections etc..
I do not want to call my oral surgero again, the last time I called
them with a question about a straw they were really snotty.

I too recently had a wisdom tooth pulled and had the same icky taste. I

finally realized that it was food getting in the "hole" where the tooth
had been. When I have this taste, I rinse my mouth and invariably some
old food particles (sometimes even identifiable as last nights dinner)
come out.
