Superoxide and Nitric Oxide in Pathological Conditions Associated with
Iron Overload. The Effects of Antioxidants and Chelators
I.B. Afanas'ev

Free radicals are a one of damaging factors in diseases associated with
iron overload. This review considers two principal questions: the
mechanisms of free radical-mediated damage in cells and tissue and
findings concerning the discovery of iron-stimulated free radical
cascades in thalassemia and Fanconi anemia. There are two major
precursors of all reactive oxygen and nitrogen species formed in living
organism - superoxide (O2.-) and nitric oxide (NO). However, it has
been shown that in addition to well-known mechanisms of the formation
of reactive hydroxyl radicals and peroxynitrite from superoxide and NO,
there are signal pathways by which these "physiological" radicals
directly induce apoptosis, proton leak in mitochondria and an increase
in oxygen consumption leading to cell death. In present review the
mechanisms of free radical damage are considered with the particular
emphasis of iron-induced free radical formation in thalassemia and
Fanconi anemia. Furthermore free radical reactions leading to lipid
peroxidation, LDL oxidation, the stimulation of apoptosis and other
damaging processes are discussed. An importance of the chelating and
antioxidant treatments of thalassemic and Fanconi anemia patients is
also considered within the context of free radical damage and its
prevention.

Similar language, no prize no cigar, "iron overload" says it all, don't
book a trip to oslo just yet. As the language of the abstract directly
implies, the overload, not presence of normal levels, is one among other
paths to the disorders. All you have "discovered" is that researchers
often have common thinking and often are reacting to the research of each
other, you have made no contribution in the least. Crude amateur agenda
driven unrelated irrelevant musings aren't prize worthy.

So that is the ONLY and SOLE cause of disease in Fanconi's anaemia ?

Here is the core part, iron plays a role in some of the cascades,
prooxidants are the cause of all types, read and weep:

"it has been shown that in addition to well-known mechanisms of the
formation of reactive hydroxyl radicals and peroxynitrite from
superoxide and NO, there are signal pathways by which these
"physiological" radicals directly induce apoptosis, proton leak in
mitochondria and an increase in oxygen consumption leading to cell

Narrow snipping doesn't the truth change nor crude amateur agenda driven
thinking support, not close, no cigar, no prize period. his was said to
be in cases of iron overload in some examples of the apperance of the
disorder, silk purses of pig's ears aren't made, nuff said.

Not only did you cheery pick that article but you cherry picked a few
words in such a way as to spin the meaning you wanted from it while
ignoring the other language that defeats your agenda driven goal. This is
one for the glock prize for the cherry picking division and for dishonest
use of research results. Repeating the cherry pick words doesn't save
them, it only highlights the lengths to which some will go no matter how
dishonest, or is it only the normal product of the crude amateur watching
the vision of glory going down the drain.

Go in peace my friend. Bty, am I the first to mention that you are your
own worst enemy? My only reason for replying to your posts is to make
sure no one thinks the iron causes all disease notion has any validity. I
could probably not bother as your response to correction, flaws in logic,
failure to understand what is posted, etc. tells the story more forcefully
then the mere simple truth of my posts do. May God bless and protect you.
