Sudden change in contact lens behavior(?)
|
|
|
I wrote a few days ago about the contact lens fitting process I'm
undergoing to correct astigmatism.
Synopsis:
Preference Torics seem to work, mostly. Tried Hydrasofts but
discontinued due to discomfort/perceptions of distortion. Physician is
refining the Preference Toric fit.
Issue:
All was well with the Preference Torics until Saturday evening when I
took them off and cleaned them overnight. Upon putting them in on
Sunday morning, my vision is worse with them in than with them out.
After approx. 1/2 hour of settling, the blur is worse close in and far
away. Eyedrops don't help. Rubbing the eyes _very gently_ brings some
short-term improvement.
About the only thing I'm doing differently is cleaning the Preference
Torics in a peroxide bath that was given to me with the Hydrasofts.
Advice appreciated.
Thanks,
--- Ravi |

Rule 1: If the lens causes discomfort or pain, remove it, clean and
rinse, try again. If the problem persists, *do not wear it.* It is
damaged or your eye is damaged. See your doctor.
Rule 2: If wearing the lens causes your vision to be poor, the lens
either does not fit or has been damaged. *Do not wear it*. If using a
disposable lens, try a new one. Otherwise, or if the problem persists,
see your doctor.

Thanks. I will give them a call in the morning. I _think_ it may be
that I flipped left and right although I take precautions to make sure
that they are properly stowed. I tried them in the other configuration
and I can see well. But, I am not comfortable with the uncertainty and
have stored them until I can get them looked at.

If it's any comfort, I've flipped them a couple of times -- and felt really
stupid because the first time I was SURE I couldn't have done anything that
dumb because I too am very careful.
