Maybe, but its tiresome after doing it for many years, and one often |
ends up being yelled at or even libelled by types that have an ax to
grind or are pushing their products. See the recent Peter Moran thread
as an example.
| Quote: | alt.support.cancer's Charter says:
If it's more about medicine, post to sci.med.diseases.cancer (so I've been
posting about medicines and clinical trials here, unless specifically asked
about on alt.support.cancer)
Making outrageous or unsupported claims is prohibited.
Advocating treatments that have been disproven scientifically or have not
successfully completed all phases of a clinical trial is inappropriate.
Encouraging patients to stop or avoid conventional proven cancer treatment in
favor of unconventional and unproven treatment is inappropriate.
I refer people here if they want to read about medicines.
I refer people here if they want to ask you about, for instance liver mets.
I refer people here if they want to ask radiation therapy questions.
And I refer people here to see discussions about unconventional ad/or
experimental and/or investigational treatments.
Its the last ones that give rise to problems. Difference between |
unconventional and investigational/experimental: how the drug/herb/laser
etc is tested. If its been thru the conventional mills and been shown to
be effective no problem. No problem discussing it (but not selling it)
if its still in a phase II or III trial as they are on the correct path.
If for example someone by accident discovers that mud in a particular
river is fantastic against acne or arthritis, why not mention it in the
relevant alt group? If it cured his aunt's piles stick it in the
relevant alt group. If however it cured his son of leukemia, this (and
the alt cancer group) would be the relevant groups. Now mentioning what
happened is fine, we would all draw our own conclusions (such as: no
more camping in the Rhone valley if the mud is THAT radioactive
already!) But if the guy buys a whole stretch of the river and starts
marketing its mud here: No! Then it has to go thru the whole procedure
of testing, dosage etc.

I do really wish this pointless criticism of the website could be avoided
(as if it has anything whatsoever to do with the efficacy of the
treatment), but ever since the doctor got her first bad comment about it
years ago, she has refused to budge an inch on her idea of what she wants
the main page to look like. She turned down at least fifteen different
ideas, because they were not EXACTLY what she wanted. Actually she laughs
when people don't want to take her seriously because of an unorthodox
looking website. You should know, all doctors have at least a minor streak
of stubborn-ness about them. |

It's not unorthodox, it's just difficult to read therefore it doesn't get
the message across. If that's what she wants that's fair enough.
If a message is not being communicated efficiently it can't be taken
seriously ...

I'm not taking a stand on whether the website's unusual appearance is good
or bad. Actually, I am aware that on some slower computers, even more so
when on a dialup connection, it does admittedly become a pain. But since
all the info is on the text pages, which can be loaded directly from the
navbars, which still work, long before the animation completes, she doesn't
consider it a problem. I'm sure in time the site will evolve into something
a little more traditional. Right now she wants it to be different from
everything else out there, and there's nothing I can do about it. |

Well, she's wrong.
The problem is the background to the TEXT, which interferes with easy
reading of the text.
If she doesn't want to comminicate her message that's fine by me, I'm not
selling it, but there's no point in promoting it unless it's properly
cpommicated to those who might benefit.

What on earth do you mean by "whose last success rate was somewhere around
25%"
Success at what, specifically?
THE SUCCESS RATE OF C H E M O AND R A D I A T I O N!!!

That is not an answer. 25% success at what? Remission? Disease free?
Stabilization? You are doing an extremely poor job of representing your
company.
What's more, a half-baked amateur like you shouldn't bother posting to
a group like this. These people have their lives, or the lives of loved
ones on the line.
Do you really think they're going to fall for some snake oil sold by
some fly-by-night outfit who is hosting its website on Yahoo! Who in

You must think these people are a bunch of idiots.
Do you know how many reputable medical clinics and cancer
treatment/research centers built and host their webistes on Yahoo? The
answer is *none*.

Hey brainfart, advertising and marketing have never been their focus...
killing cancer and saving lives HAS BEEN AND STILL IS. If they don't want
to pay a high dollar site developer, that is their business.
And I never claimed to be a medical professional, I just happen to be the
only employee there who was willing to WASTE HIS TIME on a bunch of
closedminded thought-clones on the web and usenet. I could care less if
you think it's a snakeoil scam, because I have seen the results and the
lives saved, and I have seen what the establishment had done to the
patients before they arrived... the same thing which will likely happen
to the others who choose mainstream mutilation... |

Perhaps, but all things considered they're certainly spending millions on

Apparently you have missed the whole point of this newsgroup. It is to
educate each other and provide comfort to those just beginning and ending
the journey. It is NOT to sell us YOUR idea of a cure. I don't believe there
is any indication in the Charter of this NG that asks for your input or
