Hi All. My wife has been recently diagnosed (by a neuro-opthamalogist)
with dominant optic atrophy. We thought she just had a lousy
optometrist, I wish that were the case. There are so many questions:
Will there ever be a cure? Will our soon-to-be-born baby have the same
problem (my eyesight is 20/20)? Is there anyone out there in the same
situation? Where can she get support? Anyone have anything they'd like
to share on the subject? Thanks.

She should ask her ob/gyn or the neuro opth for referral to a genetics
counsellor for the answers. This is a service offered at various teaching
hospitals, often pediatric hospitals. There are often support groups
available, again her doctor will likely know. The answers you want are too
specific to an individual's particular history to be easily answered in a
news group.
