James, Many thans for detailed reply & advice.

"Changes in base pair sequence due to environmental insults are quite

"Although environmental insults can cause genes to be turned on that

the inverse. "

These are quite interesting aspects. Can changes in genes be corrected
within one's lifetime?

Not likely. The process is continuous.

Jame, you are a good contributor. Let us look at some dynamic thought
on possibilty of gene change within ones lifetime & its effect:-

1. Few alternative systems claims that they cure disease as a whole or
makes a person perfectly healthy. If possible, will/can it be a change
in gennes set up? If possible, will those people can loose their
genatic adaptibility/diversity to fight environmental/social current
insults or resistances or immune system to be more diverse and better
able to fight diseases? How immunity is strengthened with in one's
lifetime? Is it is genetic structural change?

2. Can a person can do changes in its genes structural set ups by
specific thoughts, deep & specific concentrations & meditations? Means
by self mental power, can one change some genetic set ups at birth?

And there are some mutant genes which seem to be of no value at all.

You should not use the word mutant in general cases. To identify one
gene or phenotype as mutant means you must also have some idea of what
wild type is. In the CF example you gave, we presume that the wt is
not CF.
What is wild type skin color, hair color, eye color, metabolic
functions etc? We'll never know.
I would use the term alternative allele unless wt is clearly known.

Good point. But it is also dangerous to talk about WT in humans as the
PC police are likely to appear. None the less I think in cases like CF
or the roughly 60 known alleles that cause albino it is safe to call
these genes mutants. After all, both are pretty close to being
lethals, at least in a less then modern society, so they for sure could
not have been WT. Thus non CF or non albino had to be WT.
